May God multiply glory like yours on earth,

so that deeds of kindness may spread,

and gifts from you may reach all humankind,

compelling forgiveness for the sins of time.

For your bounty has indeed embraced us with a blessing

before which my hand and my tongue fell short,

and favors which, were the morning rainclouds to claim them,

the evidence of testing would belie them.

People have witnessed one aspect of your generosity,

but I have witnessed many aspects in you.

O generous one, who meets delegations seeking his bounty

with a benefactor's gifts and an offender's apologies.

Opposites have been united in your wondrous attributes,

O you who bring together beautiful qualities.

You lavish wealth, then are miserly with your honor,

and strike fiercely—except against one who wields a tongue.

So God bless you, generous yet miserly,

giving yet withholding, brave yet cowardly.
