رَحِمَmay He have mercy on الإِلَهُGod جَوارِحاًlimbs ضَمَّenfolded الثَرىthe earth
رَحِمَ الإِلَهُ جَوارِحاً ضَمَّ الثَرى
فيin مارِدينَMardin بِأَيمَنِon the right side of الصَمّانِal-Samman
في مارِدينَ بِأَيمَنِ الصَمّانِ
May God have mercy on the limbs the earth enfolded
in Mardin, on the right side of al-Samman.
فَلَقَدfor indeed تَمَتَّعتِtook delight النَواظِرُthe eyes بُرهَةًfor a time
فَلَقَد تَمَتَّعتِ النَواظِرُ بُرهَةً
مِنfrom رَبِّهاtheir master بِالحُسنِin beauty وَالإِحسانِand beneficence
مِن رَبِّها بِالحُسنِ وَالإِحسانِ
For eyes took delight for a time
in their master's beauty and beneficence.
وَعَلِمتُand I knew أَنَّthat ذُنوبَهُhis sins مَغفورَةٌforgiven
وَعَلِمتُ أَنَّ ذُنوبَهُ مَغفورَةٌ
مِنfrom دَفنِهِhis burial بِمَقابِرِin the cemeteries of الرِضوانِdivine favor
مِن دَفنِهِ بِمَقابِرِ الرِضوانِ
And I knew that his sins were forgiven
from his burial in the cemeteries of divine favor.
