خَدَمتُكُمُ فَما أَبقَيتُ جُهداً

I served you, sparing no effort.

Nor did I raise my gaze in ambition.

Seeking no selfish gain,

وَجِئتُكُمُ بِمَعرِفَةٍ وَعَدلٍ

وَجِئتُكُمُ بِمَعرِفَةٍ وَعَدلٍ

أَلَم يَكُ فيهِما مَنِعٌ لِصَرفي

أَلَم يَكُ فيهِما مَنِعٌ لِصَرفي

And I came to you with knowledge and justice.

Offering you knowledge and justice—

Was there not in them both a barrier to my dismissal?

Should these not suffice to stay my hand?
