بَعَثتُ هَدِيَّتي لَكُمُ وَليسَت

بَعَثتُ هَدِيَّتي لَكُمُ وَليسَت

بِقَدرِكَ في القِياسِ وَلا بِقَدري

I sent my gift to you, though it is not

I sent my gift to you though it's not

equal in measure to your worth, nor to mine;

Worthy of you or of me in any measure

وَلَكِن حَسبُ إِمكاني وَأَرجو

وَلَكِن حَسبُ إِمكاني وَأَرجو

لَدَيكَ قُبولَها وَقِيامَ عُذري

but it is within my means, and I hope

But it's the best that I can do

that you will accept it and find my excuse valid.

And I hope that you'll accept it and pardon my shortcoming

فَدَع كَسرَ القُلوبِ فَفي حِسابي

يَكونُ لَنا مُقابَلَةً بِجَبرِ

So leave off breaking hearts, for in my reckoning

So cease breaking hearts, for at the reckoning

it is balanced, for us, by mending.

We shall be recompensed in full
