أَرىI see فيكَin you ياO عيسىIsa الطَبيبَthe physician فَضيلَةًa virtue
هِيَit is الضِدَّthe opposite مِنof أَفعالِthe deeds of عيسىIsa بنِson of مَريَمِMary
I see in you, O Isa the physician, a virtue
I see in you, O doctor, a vice
That is the opposite of the deeds of Isa, son of Mary.
That is the opposite of Jesus son of Mary's deeds
تُميتُyou kill لَناfor us الأَحياءَthe living مِنfrom غَيرِother than عِلَّةٍan illness
وَتُضنيand you weaken وَتُغنيand you enrich بِاليَدَينِwith both hands وَبِالفَمِand with the mouth
You kill the living for us without any illness,
You kill the living without illness
And you weaken and enrich with both hands and mouth.
And you stingily heal with your hands and mouth
وَتَحميand you prescribe abstinence وَلَكِنand yet عَنfrom شِفاءٍhealing وَصِحَّةٍand health
وَتَحقِنُand you hold back إِلّاexcept لِلحَياءِfor modesty وَلِلدَمِand for blood
And you prescribe abstinence—but from healing and health,
You protect, but not for healing or health
And you hold things back—except modesty and blood.
You only inject for shame and bloodshed
فَماso ... not أَنتَyou إِلّاexcept خَبطُthe flailing of عَشواءَa blind she-camel مَنwhoever تُصِبyou strike
تُمِتهُyou kill him وَمَنand whoever تُخطِىءyou miss يُعَمَّرis granted long life فَيُهدَمِthen is demolished
So you are nothing but a blind she-camel's flailing: whoever you strike,
You are but the blind groping of one who strikes
You kill him; and whoever you miss lives long, then is demolished.
He whom you hit dies, and he whom you miss lives only to be ruined
