طَمِعتُ بِعَفوٍ مِنكَ عَمّا اِقتَرَفتُهُ

طَمِعتُ بِعَفوٍ مِنكَ عَمّا اِقتَرَفتُهُ

فَلَيسَ لَهُ في طَيِّ حِلمِكُمُ قَدرُ

فَلَيسَ لَهُ في طَيِّ حِلمِكُمُ قَدرُ

I hoped for pardon from you for what I had committed;

I hoped for pardon from you for my misdeeds

For it has no weight within the folds of your forbearance.

Yet they have no worth in the folds of your forbearance

وَقُلتُ بِأَنَّ البَحرَ لا يَحمِلُ القَذى

وَقُلتُ بِأَنَّ البَحرَ لا يَحمِلُ القَذى

وَما شَكَّ خَلقٌ واحِدٌ أَنَّكَ البَحرُ

وَما شَكَّ خَلقٌ واحِدٌ أَنَّكَ البَحرُ

And I said that the sea bears no debris;

And I said that the sea bears not the speck

And not a single soul doubted that you are the sea.

No single being doubts that you are the sea

وَأَبدَيتُ إِقراراً بِذَنبي لِأَنَّهُ

وَأَبدَيتُ إِقراراً بِذَنبي لِأَنَّهُ

بِهِ يَثبُتُ الإِنصافُ وَالتَوبُ وَالعُذرُ

بِهِ يَثبُتُ الإِنصافُ وَالتَوبُ وَالعُذرُ

And I openly acknowledged my sin, because

And I acknowledged my sin, for by it

Through it, fairness, repentance, and grounds for pardon are established.

Justice, repentance, and excuse are established
