بَل كُنتُ عَلى البُعدِ قَوِيّاً وَأَمين
I have not strayed from the pledge, and far be it from me to lie.
I have not wearied of the covenant, far be it from me, faithful one!
Rather, despite the distance, I remained strong and trustworthy.
Rather was I, in separation, strong and faithful.

Do not think I yield when estrangement grows harsh.
Think not that when estrangement was hard I became soft,
Rather, were the veil lifted, my certainty would not increase.
Nay, had the veil been lifted, my certainty would not have increased.
