وَاللَهِ ما سَهِرَت عَيني لِبُعدِكُم

وَاللَهِ ما سَهِرَت عَيني لِبُعدِكُم

لِعِلمِها أَنَّ طيبَ الوَصلِ في الحُلُمِ

لِعِلمِها أَنَّ طيبَ الوَصلِ في الحُلُمِ

By God, my eye has not stayed awake because of your absence,

By God, my eyes did not stay awake longing for your absence,

For it knows that the sweetness of union is in dreams.

Knowing that the sweetness of union lies in dreams,

وَلا صَبَوتُ إِلى ذِكرِ الجَليسِ لَكُم

وَلا صَبَوتُ إِلى ذِكرِ الجَليسِ لَكُم

لِأَنَّ ذِكرَكُمُ في خاطِري وَفَمي

لِأَنَّ ذِكرَكُمُ في خاطِري وَفَمي

Nor have I longed for a companion to mention you,

Nor did I pine for the memory of your company,

For remembrance of you is in my mind and my mouth.

For the memory of you is in my heart and on my lips
