And there is a miser whose honor people assail,
A miser people insult, but his loaf untouched remains.
yet his loaf cannot be had.
Each day with a piece of bread like a crescent moon he comes,
كُلَّevery يَومٍday يَأتيhe comes بِحَرفِwith a crust of رَغيفٍa loaf

Every day he brings a crust of a loaf,
Unripe, incomplete.
like a crescent whose fullness has never drawn near.
Fixed in the center of his dingy rug, impervious to decay.

Settled in the middle of his blue dining cloth,
I marveled at a sky over ground,
never vanishing from that spot.
Where each day the crescent rises anew.

So I marveled at a sky upon the earth,
where a crescent appears every day.
