With a face bright as the water of life

Greeted me with a face that was all eyes.

A life with a face full of eyes

I kissed him, then welcomed him,

I kissed him then embraced him

Amid faces that were all eyes.

Among faces full of eyes

وقلت وقيت صروف الردى

وقلت وقيت صروف الردى

وانصرفت عن وجهك الأعين

وانصرفت عن وجهك الأعين

And I said, 'May you be shielded from the turns of doom,

And I said, I endured the vicissitudes of fate

And may eyes turn away from your face.'

And turned away from your face, O eyes
