And indeed I am enamored of rhymes and their composition.
Allured by rhyme and meter am I,
And their eloquent verse brings me to the height of joy.
Its eloquence brings me joy sublime.
وَأَطيَبُand the sweetest of أَوقاتيmy times مِنَof الدَهرِlife لَيلَةٌa night
تُريغُseek القَوافيthe rhymes خاطِريmy mind وَأَريغُهاand I seek them
And the sweetest time of my life is a night
The hour I savor most in life
When rhymes seek my mind, and I seek them.
Is when a poem flows from my mind.

For how often my ambition has borne me to a far-off goal
My ambition has reached such heights,
That even Sirius, the Crossing Star, would find hard to reach.
Beyond what poets can climb,
فَماfor nothing سَرَّنيhas delighted me إِلّاexcept كَلامٌspeech أَسيغُهُI savor it

For nothing has delighted me but words I savor
Only words well-crafted delight me,
With an attentive ear, or meanings I fashion.
Whether heard or formed in my mind.
