وَأَغَرَّ تِبرِيِّ الإِهابِ مُرَدَّدٍ

وَأَغَرَّ تِبرِيِّ الإِهابِ مُرَدَّدٍ

سَبطِ الأَديمِ مُحَجَّلٍ بِبَياضِ

سَبطِ الأَديمِ مُحَجَّلٍ بِبَياضِ

And a white-blazed one, golden-coated and well-proportioned,

And the whiteness of his unblemished skin allured me

Smooth of hide, with legs marked white:

His mantle draped about him fold on fold

أَخشى عَليهِ بِأَن يُصابَ بِأَسهُمي

أَخشى عَليهِ بِأَن يُصابَ بِأَسهُمي

مِمّا يُسابِقُني إِلى الأَغراضِ

مِمّا يُسابِقُني إِلى الأَغراضِ

I fear for him, lest he be struck by my arrows,

I fear for him; my arrows he may face

For he races me to the targets.

As to the goal he speeds, outpacing me
