يُلي إليك بودٍّ غيرِ مأثوب
A thousand times at your service, Abu Hafs—the response of one
who offers you affection without recompense.
أبعدis it after خمسٍfive وسبعينand seventy التحقتُI caught up بهاwith them
أبعد خمسٍ وسبعين التحقتُ بها
حتىuntil قرعتI struck لهذاfor this الدهرage ظُنبُوبيmy shinbone
حتى قرعت لهذا الدهر ظُنبُوبي
After seventy-five years I have attained—
till I struck my shin in readiness to face this age?
