O you who gloat and taunt me for gray hair,
O you who reproach me for growing old,
boast less of youth.
And boast of your youth arrogantly,
قَدْindeed لَبِسْتُI have worn الشَبابَyouth غَضّاًfresh طَرِيَّاtender

I have worn youth, fresh and tender,
I wore the garb of youth when it was fresh,
and found youth to be a borrowed garment.
And found youth's robe a borrowed one.
