سألنا معالي مصر هل لكِ عودةٌ

سألنا معالي مصر هل لكِ عودةٌ

وهل سابقاتُ الدهر يدنو بعيدُها

وهل سابقاتُ الدهر يدنو بعيدُها

We asked Egypt’s grandeur: “Will you return?

We asked your Excellency Egypt, will you return?

And will the far-off days of old draw near?”

And will the past days, does their distant one draw near?

فقالت بإسماعيلَ أوحدِ عصرِه

فقالت بإسماعيلَ أوحدِ عصرِه

وجدْتُ لأيامٍ الصِّبا مَنْ يُعيدُها

وجدْتُ لأيامٍ الصِّبا مَنْ يُعيدُها

She said: “In Ismail, peerless in his age,

She said, by Ismail I stand alone in my time,

I have found one who brings back the days of youth.”

For the days of youth, I found one who brings them back.
