أبوةُ خيرٍ أحرزتْ كل ماجدٍ
حوىhas won قصباتِreeds السبقof victory فيin كلevery مفخرِfield of honor
حوى قصباتِ السبق في كل مفخرِ
A lineage of goodness has embraced every illustrious man
Who has won victory’s prize-reeds in every field of honor.
رجالُmen تجاريبof experience وأبطالand heroes دولةٍof the state
رجالُ تجاريب وأبطال دولةٍ
وسادةُand masters أحكامof judgment وفرسانand knights منبرof the pulpit
وسادةُ أحكام وفرسان منبر
Men of experience and heroes of the state,
And masters of judgment and knights of the pulpit.
إذاwhen أبدتdisplay الأيامthe days يوماًone day جهامةَa frown
إذا أبدت الأيام يوماً جهامةَ
يقابلهاmeets it منfrom حسنهمtheir goodness كلّevery مُسفرradiant one
يقابلها من حسنهم كلّ مُسفر
When the days one day display a frown,
Their goodness counters it with every radiant face.
