For the spreading trees, where birds sing above their branches,

For a place to sit among the blossoms and grass,

إلى نسمات الروض تعبق في الدجى

وتحمل عطر الزهر للهالئم الصبّ

For the garden breezes, fragrant in the darkness,

And carrying the flowers' perfume to the lovesick wanderer;

إلى الكرم في ظل الدوالي مقلنا

For the vineyard, our noonday resting place in the shade of the vines,

For bright-faced neighbors, for companions,

إلى نغم الشادي يغني بليلة

منعّمَةٍ لحن الصبابة والحب

For the singer's strains as he sings, on a night

Of bliss, the melody of longing and love.

Haunts where a part of my youth remains,

And in my frame is something of their water and of the soil.

حملتُ لها الإخلاص ملء جوانحي

وأهوى مغانيها على البعد والقرب

I bore them devotion that filled my breast,

And I love their haunts, whether far away or near.

وآذرف دمع العين إمّا ذكرتُها

وتصبو لها نفسي ويهفو لها قلبي

And I shed tears from my eyes whenever I remember them,

And my soul yearns for them, and my heart flutters toward them.
