If a young man's breast is not filled

With patience, life remains hostage to ruin.

Lives, even if they are like the gleam of a mirage.

In the heart, unconquered by torment,

Within an eye the years have wrinkled,

The eye feared for it a reproacher's rebuke,

And so hid it in the corners of the eyelids.

Far from this world, a far-off destination.

And no friend but the nightingale's voice.

The friends remembered the one far from home,

And he awoke from his dreams, forgetting

What had passed through memory, and lowered the curtain.
