نضت نقابين قد كانا لنا شركا

عن حسن وجه ونفس خلتها نورا

She cast off two veils that had been a snare for us,

I lifted the veils of two companions we once shared

from the beauty of a face and a soul I had thought to be light.

One of a beautiful face and soul filled with light

فغاب من حسنها ما كان منتقبا

فغاب من حسنها ما كان منتقبا

وبان من فسقها ما كان مستوار

وبان من فسقها ما كان مستوار

Then what had been veiled of her beauty vanished,

So the beauty that had been veiled was gone

and what had been concealed of her depravity was revealed.

And the evil that had been hidden came into view
