I am as you wished, and as your coy charm desired.

So [why?] have your inquiries about the lover grown few?

Have you, I wonder, lent an ear to the foes?

Far be it from you that your perfection should approve of that.

Every day the reproacher has some slander.

May neither [my reproachers?] nor your reproachers live!

A whole lifetime of accusation and reproach?

When, then, will come acquittal, contentment, and union with you?

Yours is a dominion that has captured the minds of the wise.

So may your sovereignty soar, and your beauty be exalted.

My time in love knows no end, just as

your likeness has surpassed the beauty of all creation.

My obedience is yours: so rule and command.

For I obey whatever your phantom bids.

If your justice deems my death lawful,

Then I have accepted it, though I do not think you [would permit it].

Or if you wished me an arrow [in the foes' hearts?],

I would strike true, and your arrows had [unclear verb] it.

Or if you wished me a spell in the minds of humankind,

I would keep pace with what your actions wrought upon me.

Or if you wished me a branch that love sets swaying,

For I see your qualities—and just as you like.

    Or if you wished me to [draw near], I would be the most obedient worshipper;

Or if you wished estrangement, I would say, 'Exalted is your majesty!'
