  1. (غيبوبة)

    رسمت عطرك حصنا أستجير به

    (Trance)

    I drew your fragrance as a fortress in which I seek refuge

  2. من فتنة الصمت يغري الليل بالأرق

    لكن عطرك كالمنفى يلاحقني

    From the spell of silence, which lures the night into sleeplessness.

    But your fragrance pursues me like exile,

  3. لغابة الصمت في غيبوبة الألق

    (إطراقة)

    To the forest of silence, in a trance of radiance.

    (Bowed Head)

  4. محنة النور أن يكون مرايا

    مطرقات لما يقول السكون

    Light's ordeal is to be mirrors

    Bowing their heads to what stillness says;

  5. يختزلن الظلام بين الخطايا

    حين يلمعن إذ تنام الظنون

    They condense darkness among sins

    When they gleam as suspicions sleep.

  6. (تواصل)

    أخفيت في لج السكون خواطري

    (Connection)

    I hid my thoughts in the depths of stillness;

  7. فالصمت أعذبه صدى إطراقي

    ونزعت عن ثقل السنين ملامحي

    For silence at its sweetest is the echo of my bowed head.

    And I wrested my features from the weight of years,

  8. فتحررت من محنة الآفاق

    ووقفت أختصر الظلام لعلني

    So I was freed from the ordeal of horizons.

    And I stood, abridging the darkness; perhaps I

  9. آنست نارا عذبة الإحراق

    فإلى متى أخفي الضباب بخافقي

    Had glimpsed a fire sweet in its burning.

    So how long shall I hide the fog in my beating heart,

  10. حتى تظل الشمس في إشراق

    وإلى متى أنفي السراب حقيقة

    So that the sun may remain radiant?

    And how long shall I deny the mirage's reality,

  11. والماء طيف ضاق بالأحداق

    إني نسجت من السكون ملاحما

    While water is a phantom chafing at the eyes?

    Indeed, I have woven epics from stillness

  12. للمتعبين : الليل والأشواق

    (شراع)

    For the weary: the night and longings.

    (Sail)

  13. ذاك الذي في خاطري

    يحيلني أشرعة من الأرق

    That which is in my thoughts

    Turns me into sails of sleeplessness,

  14. ينثرني في صحوة الحضور

    ويختفي كأنه لؤلؤة العصور

    Scatters me in the awakening of presence,

    And vanishes as though it were the pearl of the ages.

  15. (حاصرني)

    في بعده الجديد

    (He Besieged Me)

    In his new remoteness,

  16. فاستوحشت ذاكرتي

    واستفحل الإياب

    So my memory grew desolate,

    And the return grew overwhelming,

  17. من بعد ماعرفته

    مجردا عن لونه

    After I had known him

    Stripped of his color,

  18. كزرقة تنفض عنها بحرها

    أو نظرة حزينة

    Like blueness shaking off its sea,

    Or a sorrowful gaze

  19. لاتلتقي بعالم السواد

    يتركني من بعد ماعرفته

    That does not meet the world of blackness.

    He leaves me after I have known him,

  20. ويختفي كما يعود

    تصوّر

    And vanishes just as he returns.

  21. رأيته

    يذوب في وحدته

    I saw him

    Dissolving in his solitude;

  22. فوجهه التباسة الجداول

    وصبره امتثال

    And his face is a confusion of streams,

    And his patience is submission;

  23. يلتقط النعاس عينيه فلا

    تجرفه مساقط الأرق

    Slumber catches his eyes, so no

    Cascades of sleeplessness sweep him away.

  24. وصوته دثار

    رأيته

    And his voice is a cloak.

    I saw him

  25. يعود من منابت الخجل

    فيرتوي النضار من سياطه الوديعة

    Return from the seedbeds of shyness,

    So gold drinks its fill from his gentle whips;

  26. يغرق في أحقاده الجفاف

    فتختفي الطقوس والثلوج

    Aridity drowns in his hatreds,

    So rituals and snows vanish

  27. من قبل في معاول انتظاره

    رأيته

    Beforehand, in the pickaxes of his waiting.

    I saw him

  28. يعود من غيبته في حضرة الضياء

    شفرة عطر طائش تذبحه بصبره

    Return from his absence in the presence of radiance;

    A blade of reckless fragrance slaughters him with his patience,

  29. وسره يكشف عن توحد الأسماء

    منقلبا

    And his secret reveals the oneness of names,

    Overturned,

  30. فعينه

    تلصّ في غيابة الضمائر

    So his eye

    Steals in the hidden recess of consciences.
