إِذا نَظَرَت عَرَفتُ الجيدَ مِنها

وَعَينَيها وَلَم نَعرِف سِواها

When I looked, I knew the best of it

And her eyes, and we knew nothing but her

كَرِهنا أَن نُفَزِّعَها فَقُلنا

أَشَلَّ اللَهُ كَفَّي مَن رَماها

We hated to alarm her, so we said

May God paralyze the hands of he who throws at her
