فَإِنso if تَرتَبِعshe spends spring يَوماًone day بِغَورِin the lowlands of تِهامَةٍTihamah
فَإِن تَرتَبِع يَوماً بِغَورِ تِهامَةٍ

نُقِم عِندَها أَو تَشرُكِ البَرَّ نُنجِدِ
So if one day she spends spring in the lowlands of Tihamah,
If you camp one day in the valley of Tihamah
we dwell beside her; or if she takes to the open country, we go up to Najd.
We will settle there or share its expanse and help each other
وَإِنand if حارَبَتshe wages war لَيلىLayla نُحارِبwe wage war وَإِنand if تَدِنshe follows a faith
وَإِن حارَبَت لَيلى نُحارِب وَإِن تَدِن
نَدِنwe follow دينَهاher faith لاno عَيبَshame لِلمُتَوَدِّدِfor one seeking affection
نَدِن دينَها لا عَيبَ لِلمُتَوَدِّدِ
And if Layla wages war, we wage war; and if she follows a faith,
And if Layla wages war we will fight, and if she comes near
we follow her faith—there is no shame for one who seeks affection.
We will submit to her religion - no shame in being devoted
