ياO ناعِيَherald المَوتِdeath وَالمَلحودُand the entombed فيin جَدَثٍa grave
يا ناعِيَ المَوتِ وَالمَلحودُ في جَدَثٍ
عَلَيهِمِupon them مِنfrom بَقاياremnants خَزِّهِمtheir silken cloth خِرَقُrags
عَلَيهِمِ مِن بَقايا خَزِّهِم خِرَقُ
O herald of death and of the one laid in a grave—
O herald of death, while the entombed lie in a grave,
upon them hang tatters, remnants of their silk.
Upon them are rags from the remnants of their silken cloth.
دَعهُمleave them فَإِنَّfor indeed لَهُمfor them يَوماًa day يُصاحُa cry is raised بِهِمto them
دَعهُم فَإِنَّ لَهُم يَوماً يُصاحُ بِهِم
فَهُمso they إِذاwhen اِنتَبَهواthey awaken مِنfrom نَومِهِمtheir sleep فُرُقُgroups
فَهُم إِذا اِنتَبَهوا مِن نَومِهِم فُرُقُ
Leave them: a day awaits them when a cry will summon them;
Leave them, for a day awaits them when they will be called.
then, waking from their sleep, they will be struck with terror,
Then, when they awaken from their sleep, they will be in separate groups,
حَتّىuntil يَعودواthey return بِحالٍin a state غَيرِunlike حالِهِمtheir state
حَتّى يَعودوا بِحالٍ غَيرِ حالِهِم
خَلقاًa creation جَديداًnew كَماjust as مِنfrom قَبلِهاbefore it خُلِقواthey were created
خَلقاً جَديداً كَما مِن قَبلِها خُلِقوا
until they return in a state unlike their former state—
Until they return in a state unlike their former state,
a new creation, as once before they were created.
A new creation, just as they were created before.
مِنهُمsome of them عُراةٌnaked وَمِنهُمand some of them فيin ثِيابِهِمtheir clothes
مِنهُم عُراةٌ وَمِنهُم في ثِيابِهِم
مِنهاsome of them الجَديدُthe new وِمِنهاand some of them المَنهَجُthe worn-out الخَلَقُthe threadbare
مِنها الجَديدُ وِمِنها المَنهَجُ الخَلَقُ
Some of them naked, and some of them in their garments—
Some of them are naked, and some are in their clothes,
some garments new, and some worn threadbare.
Some of which are new, and some worn and threadbare.
