وَجَدنا المُسلِمينَ أَعَزَّ نَصراً

وَجَدنا المُسلِمينَ أَعَزَّ نَصراً

وَخَيرَ الناسِ كُلّهُم اِقتِدارا

وَخَيرَ الناسِ كُلّهُم اِقتِدارا

We found the Muslims mightiest in victory,

We found Muslims to be the most victorious in might

and the best of all people in power.

And the best of all people in power and command

دَعانا هُرمُزٌ لَمّا التَقَينا

دَعانا هُرمُزٌ لَمّا التَقَينا

عَلى ماءِ الكَواظِمِ فَاِستَدارا

عَلى ماءِ الكَواظِمِ فَاِستَدارا

Hormuz called us when we met

Hurmuz called us when we met

at the waters of al-Kawazim, then he turned about.

At the waters of the Kawaazim, so we turned

غَزَونا جَمعَهُم حَتّى صَبَحنا

غَزَونا جَمعَهُم حَتّى صَبَحنا

فُراتَ البَصرِ موصِلَةً جَهارا

فُراتَ البَصرِ موصِلَةً جَهارا

We raided their host until we reached at dawn

We raided them together until we reached

Furat al-Basr, pressing onward openly.
