رَمى اللَهُ مِن ذَمَّ العَشيرَةَ سادِراً

رَمى اللَهُ مِن ذَمَّ العَشيرَةَ سادِراً

بِداهِيَةٍ تَبيَضُّ مِنها المَقادِمُ

بِداهِيَةٍ تَبيَضُّ مِنها المَقادِمُ

May God strike whoever heedlessly reviles the clan

God has cast the blame of kinsfolk far away

With a calamity that turns forelocks white.

With self-evident clarity that brightens the horizon

فَدَع عَنكَ لَومي لا تَلُمني فَإِنَّني

فَدَع عَنكَ لَومي لا تَلُمني فَإِنَّني

أَحوطُ حريمي وَالعَدُوُّ المُوائِمُ

أَحوطُ حريمي وَالعَدُوُّ المُوائِمُ

So leave off blaming me; do not reproach me, for I

So cease your blame of me, do not blame me, for I

Protect my household and the foe who seeks accord.

Defend my honor while the enemy lies in wait

فَنَحنُ وَرَدنا في نَهاوَندَ مَورِداً

فَنَحنُ وَرَدنا في نَهاوَندَ مَورِداً

صَدرنا بِهِ وَالجَمعُ حَرّانُ واجِمُ

صَدرنا بِهِ وَالجَمعُ حَرّانُ واجِمُ

For at Nahawand we came to a watering place;

For we have arrived at Nahāwand as destiny decreed

We came away from it, the host parched and silent with dismay.

With purpose though the hostile horde threatens assault
