Many a forefather's deeds have I inherited—
Rich in noble virtues, his sea surging.

And on the morning at Fahl, they saw me bearing battle insignia,
And the horses panted, and the ordeal took many forms.

The purebred Arabian horses kept trampling them
In the fray at Fahl, while the dust swirled,
حَتّىuntil رَمَينَthey hurled سَراتُهُمtheir chiefs عَنaway from أَسرِهِمtheir kin

Until they hurled their chiefs away from their kin,
In a terror after which there was no standing firm.
