فَقَعso fall إِمّاeither بِمَوتٍwith death أَوor حَياةِlife
You have indeed tormented me, O love of Lubna.
You tortured me, O love of Lubna
So fall upon me with either death or life.
My demise will come either by death or life
فَإِنَّfor indeed المَوتَdeath أَروَحُmore restful مِنthan حَياةٍa life
نَدومُwe continue عَلىin التَباعُدِseparation وَالشَتاتِand dispersal
For death is more restful than a life
For death is more comforting than a life
In which we live on, separated and scattered.
Where I regret the distance and separation
وَقالَand said الأَقرَبونَkinsfolk تَعَزَّconsole yourself عَنهاwithout her
فَقُلتُso I said لَهُمto them إِذَنthen حانَتis at hand وَفاتيmy death
And my kinsfolk said, "Find solace without her."
And the kin said: be patient with her
So I said to them, "Then my death is at hand."
I said to them: then my time has come
