I called upon ‘Adi while the fetters cast me down.

Hear me, O ‘Adi, O ‘Adi son of Nawfal!

I called upon ‘Adi while deadly fates stood poised to strike.

Hear me, O ‘Adi, aid the fettered captive!

For the sea, bearing ships as it sets forth at dawn,

is no more generous in bounty than he at every gathering.

I came to the aid of the people of the enclosure after

al-Muhallil’s fire from our side had struck them.

And I followed this with a watering place between the two sacred stations,

for pilgrims to the House of God—the noblest watering place.
