فإن فرّطَتْ فيك الحياةُ جهالةً

فإن فرّطَتْ فيك الحياةُ جهالةً

فما فرّطتْ روحُ المحبّ المتيّمِ

فما فرّطتْ روحُ المحبّ المتيّمِ

For if life has neglected you out of ignorance,

If life has neglected you out of ignorance,

the soul of the love-stricken lover has not.

The loving soul who is infatuated has not neglected you.

هلمّ لتسكنَ الفؤادَ فإنّه

هلمّ لتسكنَ الفؤادَ فإنّه

بما لكَ منهُ جنةٌ لم تُعَلَّمِ

بما لكَ منهُ جنةٌ لم تُعَلَّمِ

Come, dwell in the heart, for it is,

Come and make the heart your home, for it is to you

with the share of it that is yours, a paradise never made known.

A paradise that has no match.

فإنْ ظفرتْ بك السماءُ جنانُها

فإنْ ظفرتْ بك السماءُ جنانُها

فصِلْ جنّتي حتّى توافيكَ وارحمِ

فصِلْ جنّتي حتّى توافيكَ وارحمِ

And if heaven’s gardens win you,

If the heavens have made you happy with their gardens,

then keep your bond with my paradise until it reaches you, and have mercy.

Then grant me your paradise until you return, and have mercy.
