We attained, with God's help, what we wished, just as

It had already been inscribed in the Book.

So triumph came forward, acclaiming happiness,

And the adversary turned away, retreating in misery.

Sevastopol—through its conquest we attained our wishes,

Until the herald of gladness ascended a pulpit.

And the herald came with joy, recording the date:

With conquest, joy dawned upon us, bearing glad tidings.
