1. هَذا كِتاب في الحِساب لَقَد حَوى

    مِن كُلِّ مسألة أَتَت بِصَوابِ

    This is a book on arithmetic; it has indeed included

    Something of every problem that came with a correct answer.

  2. لَكنّ مسألتي الَّتي قَد أَشكَلت

    مَع من حَواه لَم تَكُن بِحسابِ

    But my problem, which has proved perplexing,

    With the one who possessed it, was not in the reckoning.

  3. يا رَبِّ هَذا سوء حَظّي لَم يَدَع

    لي في الوَرى حَظّاً مِن الأَحبابِ

    O my Lord, this ill fortune of mine has not left

    Me any share of loved ones among humankind.
