The beautiful one passed; I said, 'O bough of the sand dune, what ails you?

What keeps you from the breeze of coquetry, O my enchanter?

Have mercy on one love-stricken and ailing, who beckoned to you with his glance.'

He turned away coyly and said to me, 'Do not hope

for union except by surrendering your soul or your wealth.'
