أَنعم وَجُد بِالوَصلِ يا مُنيتي
O full moon, what is this coldness and coyness?
O full moon, what is this aloofness and coquetry?
Be gracious and grant me union, O my heart's desire.
I found intimacy to be good, O my wish
ماwhat حيلَتيmy recourse ماnot ليfor me بتيهagainst the pride of الغَزالthe gazelle

من طاقة من ذا لحاه حَسبي رضاه
What can I do? Against the gazelle's pride I have
I have no stratagem, I wander like a gazelle
no strength. Who would reproach him? His favor is enough for me,
With no strength, who has the patience for His consent?

O my companions!
O my company
A full moon appeared, hastening with the sun of wine;
The full moon began to pursue the sun of wine

And his cheek mirrors its splendid radiance.
And his cheek tells the tale of its radiance
And the ambergris of his beauty mark bears the fragrance of balsam.
And the musk on his mole with the fragrance of perfume

My soul is a ransom for a gazelle so quick to shy away.
I would ransom my soul for a gazelle, skittish and wary
I gave him my soul, but he would not accept it.
And I gave him my soul, but he was not content

My body wastes away for him, and I cannot endure
My body wearies of him, and I have no patience
being apart from my heart's desire; but for his coldness, I would not cry 'Ah!'
Were it not for his aloofness, I would not have sighed

And say to him: have mercy on the state of this passionate one
And explain my plight to him, and say, O you who know
And explain my condition to him and say, O All-Knowing One
