أَرى محنَ الزَمان مقدّمات

أَرى محنَ الزَمان مقدّمات

عَلى منح يَجود بِها الإِلَهُ

عَلى منح يَجود بِها الإِلَهُ

I see the trials of time as preludes

I see the tribulations of time as preludes

To gifts that God generously bestows.

To gifts with which the God bestows bounteously.

فَموسى كلَّمَ المَولى وَأَضحى

فَموسى كلَّمَ المَولى وَأَضحى

رَسولاً بَعدَ لَسع النار فاهُ

رَسولاً بَعدَ لَسع النار فاهُ

For Moses spoke to the Lord and became

So Moses conversed with his Lord and became

A messenger after fire had stung his mouth.

A messenger after being burnt by fire's sting.

وَيوسف نالَ ملك عَزيز مصر

وَيوسف نالَ ملك عَزيز مصر

عقيب السجن وَاِبتَهَجَت عُلاهُ

عقيب السجن وَاِبتَهَجَت عُلاهُ

And Joseph gained the dominion of Egypt’s Aziz

And Joseph attained Egypt's mighty kingdom

After imprisonment, and his glory rejoiced.

After prison, and his grandeur was joyous.
