أَرىI see الدَهرTime بِالإِقبالwith good fortune جادَتwas generous يَمينُهُits right hand
كَماjust as لِسَعيدfor Sa'id المَجدglory برّتproved true يَمينُهُits oath
I see that Time's right hand has lavished good fortune,
I see fate smiling upon him,
just as glory has fulfilled its oath to Sa'id.
As it did for Sa'eed and glory caressed his right hand,
وَوَافاهand came to him مَولودٌa newborn لَهُto him السَعدgood fortune خادِمٌa servant
فَلاso may not بَرحَتcease فيهِin him تقرُّfind delight عُيونهُhis eyes
And a newborn has come to him, with good fortune as the child's servant;
He was blessed with a son whose happiness served him,
so may his eyes never cease to find delight in him.
So his eyes never stopped finding comfort in him,
وَحَيّاand greeted أُناسthe people الحَيِّof the quarter بِاليمنwith blessings وَالمُنىand hopes
وَلاand no رَيبdoubt أنّthat الضدّthe adversary خابَتwere disappointed ظُنونهُhis expectations
And he greeted the people of the quarter with blessings and hopes,
And he greeted people of dignity with blessings and wishes
and doubtless the adversary's expectations have been disappointed.
Without doubt, adversity had failed its conjectures,
فَلاso may not زالَتcease الأَقدارthe fates تَحرُسguard ذاتهُhis person
وَبِالحفظand with protection مِنfrom عَينthe eye الحَسودof the envious one تَصونهُkeep him safe
So may the fates never cease to guard his person,
So destiny persisted in protecting his being,
and shield him with their protection from the envious one's eye,
And safeguarding him from the envious eyes,
إِلىuntil أَنthat نَراهwe see him فيin حلىthe adornments المَجدof glory رافِلاًsplendidly arrayed
أَباًa father ثُمَّthen جدّاًa grandfather وَالكَمالand perfection يزينهُadorns him
until we see him resplendent in the adornments of glory,
Until we see him adorned in the jewelry of glory,
a father, then a grandfather, with perfection adorning him,
A father and then grandfather with perfection gracing him,

For as long as time allows, the meadows of congratulations swayed,

With the hands of youth's goodwill holding their branches,

And wherever joy resounded with songs that enchanted,
with its melodies a lover whose sorrows follow one another;
Their tunes followed one another in passionate odes,

And whenever plentiful rain poured its clouds,
“With the finest noble son for Sa'id—his Amin.”
To the auspicious one, its goodness vouched as faithful,
