لِلّهِ درّ عصابة مِن هاشِمٍ

لِلّهِ درّ عصابة مِن هاشِمٍ

بَلَغوا المَقاصد حَيث كانَ نَديما

بَلَغوا المَقاصد حَيث كانَ نَديما

How splendid the company who, from Hashim,

For God, a group of Hashim

Attained their desires when he was their boon companion.

Attained their goals wherever they congregated

حَتّى اِجتَنوا ثَمر المَحاسن فَاِغتَدى

حَتّى اِجتَنوا ثَمر المَحاسن فَاِغتَدى

زرع الجَمال بِوَجنَتيهِ هَشيما

زرع الجَمال بِوَجنَتيهِ هَشيما

Until they plucked the fruit of his charms, and so

Until they reaped the fruits of virtues excessively

The crop of beauty on his cheeks became dry, crumbled stubble.

The crop of beauty with its cheeks became plundered

هَشموه مِن فَرط التَناول بَينَهُم

هَشموه مِن فَرط التَناول بَينَهُم

قَطفاً فَأَصبَح هاشمٌ مَهشوما

قَطفاً فَأَصبَح هاشمٌ مَهشوما

They crushed him through excessive handling among themselves,

They plucked it to excess amongst themselves

Plucking away—so Hashim was left crushed.

So Hashim became utterly plundered
