وَلمّا أَتينا للمغيريّة الَّتي

وَلمّا أَتينا للمغيريّة الَّتي

رَمَتنا قذاياها بِأَسهُم أسقامِ

And when we came to al-Mughayriyya, whose

And when we came to Mughairiyah, which

filth struck us with arrows of sickness,

Pelted us with its arrows and sick arrows,

ترحّب بي السكّان حَتّى تَبادَرَت

ترحّب بي السكّان حَتّى تَبادَرَت

بَراغيثها أَيضاً تقبّل أقدامي

بَراغيثها أَيضاً تقبّل أقدامي

the residents welcomed me, until there rushed forward

The inhabitants welcomed me until

its fleas too, to kiss my feet.

Its fleas also came forward to kiss my feet
