And I implored a graceful youth, his saliva honey-sweet,

To kiss his smiling lips or mouth; and he granted my wish.

Hijazi in speech, whenever I seek union with him,

He says, “You will receive favors if you come to Mina.”

Wondrous in beauty—were I to stray from love,

He would show me a path whenever I beheld his radiance.

From the curves of his ben-tree stature there sways—

Whenever wasting overtakes me in love for him—a bough.

Alas for my ruin from the sword of his twin glances in love!

God help you! He has granted rightly guided women no truce.

So do not marvel at my infatuation with his beauty,

For how many a maiden and youth has he bewitched in love!
