I cut off Riyah’s nose with poems, after

I had trodden on Jarir with a heavy-footed tread.

For if the deeds of their present generation disgrace Yarbuʿ,

then their forebears’ legacy had already disgraced them.

Whenever a woman of Yarbuʿ gives birth to a son,

then she has indeed given birth to baseness among the midwives.

You see her clitoris among the midwives, a full

cubit and a handspan long, while her son is incomplete.
