1. فتنتَ الغيدا بالقدّ

    جملتَ الجيدا بالعقد

    You captivated the graceful beauties with your stature.

    You adorned the neck with the necklace.

  2. فاطلق تقييداً بالخدّ

    تشهده توريدا

    So unleash a binding with the cheek;

    You behold it turning rose-red:

  3. صبغة الله

    فامنن إنعاماً بالقرب

    God’s coloring.

    So bestow the favor of nearness,

  4. واطفء إضراماً بالقلب

    واكشف أوهاماً بالحجب

    And quench the blaze within the heart,

    And unveil delusions through the veils,

  5. فالهجران داما

    حسبي الله

    For separation has endured.

    God is enough for me.

  6. روح الأرواح والأسما

    لوح الألواح بالأسما

    The spirit of spirits and of the names,

    The tablet of tablets, with the names,

  7. هند السواح بل أسمى

    مدامتي راحي

    Hind of the wanderers—nay, more sublime—

    My aged wine, my wine;

  8. بل هو الله

    برق الأحباب خبّرني

    Rather, He is God.

    Lightning of the beloved ones, give me news;

  9. عند الأعتاب فاذكرني

    لعلّ ما بي بشّرني

    At the thresholds, then remember me.

    Perhaps what is within me has brought me glad tidings:

  10. بلغت آرابي

    فعسى الله

    I have attained my desires.

    So may God...

  11. هبّت نسمات الأسحار

    وافت أوقات الأثمار

    The breezes of the predawn hours have blown;

    The seasons of fruit have arrived;

  12. طابت نغمات الأوتار

    في القلب نفحات

    The melodies of the strings have grown sweet;

    In the heart are fragrant breaths.
