You are a copy of the worlds;

You are a copy of the universes

within you is the image of the All-Merciful.

In you is the image of the Merciful

فاجمع سورة الفرقانْ

فاجمع سورة الفرقانْ

باسم اللهْ

باسم اللهْ

So gather Surah al-Furqan,

So gather the chapter of distinction

in the name of God.

In the name of God

لاح في الدجا الحالك

لاح في الدجا الحالك

بدري والسوى هالك

بدري والسوى هالك

In the pitch-black darkness shone

The new moon shone in the dark night

my full moon, with all else perishing.

My full moon and the equal have perished

فيّ نوره ذلك

فيّ نوره ذلك

أمر الله

أمر الله

His light is within me; that is

In its light is that

God's command.

The order of God

صاح دعني في ذكري

صاح دعني في ذكري

واعذر فالهوى عذري

واعذر فالهوى عذري

Friend, leave me to my remembrance,

Cry, leave me to my remembrance

and pardon me, for love is my excuse.

And excuse me for passion is my excuse

أنا ليس في سرّي

أنا ليس في سرّي

إلا الله

إلا الله

As for me, there is nothing in my innermost self

There is nothing in my secret

but God.

Except God

فيه غبت عن فكري

فيه غبت عن فكري

حيث حضرة الذكر

حيث حضرة الذكر

In Him I became oblivious to my thought,

In it I was absent from my thoughts

where the gathering of remembrance is held.

Where the presence of remembrance

وردي مورد البكري

وردي مورد البكري

حي الله

حي الله

My litany is al-Bakri's wellspring:

And my meadow is the meadow of morning

God is ever-living.

The living God

قد محا السوى وجدي

قد محا السوى وجدي

همّت في الهوى وحدي

همّت في الهوى وحدي

My ecstasy has effaced all else;

It has erased the equal and my fervor

I wandered alone in love.

It intended in passion my oneness

حقّق كي ترى عندي

حقّق كي ترى عندي

عند الله

عند الله

Seek realization, so that you may see, with me,

Realize so you may see in me

in God's presence.

With God

نحن ربّنا نذكر

نحن ربّنا نذكر

ثمّ غيره نهجر

ثمّ غيره نهجر

We remember our Lord,

We, our Lord we remember

then forsake all other than Him.

Then we abandon others

ولذا لنا تنظر

ولذا لنا تنظر

عين الله

عين الله

And therefore upon us gazes

And thus for us you look

the eye of God.

The eye of God

يمّم نحونا وانحُ

يمّم نحونا وانحُ

واسكر صاح لا تصحُ

واسكر صاح لا تصحُ

Head toward us, and turn this way;

It turns toward us and comes close

and become drunk, friend—do not sober up.

And intoxicate my friend do not awake

ثمّ من حشاك امحُ

ثمّ من حشاك امحُ

غيرَ الله

غيرَ الله

Then erase from your innermost heart

Then from your love erase

all other than God.

Other than God

واسلك فيه منهاجا

واسلك فيه منهاجا

واهجر فيه من هاجا

واهجر فيه من هاجا

And tread a path in Him,

And take in it a path

and for His sake forsake whoever rages.

And abandon in it one who complained

والحظ سرا ذا جا

والحظ سرا ذا جا

نصر الله

نصر الله

And behold this secret: there has come

And notice the mystery if it came

God's help.

The victory of God

ثمّ صلّ بالتسليم

ثمّ صلّ بالتسليم

لساقي صفا التسنيم

لساقي صفا التسنيم

Then invoke blessings, with salutations,

Then pray in surrender

for the cupbearer of pure Tasnim,

To the cupbearer of the gentle breeze

من عليه بالتعظيم

من عليه بالتعظيم

صلى الله

the one upon whom, with honor,

To whom belongs exaltation

God has bestowed blessings.
