شمس نور الذات لاحت

بضيا الأسماء فينا

بضيا الأسماء فينا

The sun of the Essence's light shone forth

With the radiance of the Names within us.

وصفات الحسن راحت

وصفات الحسن راحت

بسناها تصطفينا

بسناها تصطفينا

And beauty's attributes went forth,

Choosing us by their radiance.

وسرى السرّ المحقّق

وسرى السرّ المحقّق

بصفا الكأس المروَّق

بصفا الكأس المروَّق

And the realized secret flowed

Through the purity of the clarified cup.

ينجلي منّا وفينا

ينجلي منّا وفينا

يجتليه مقتفينا

يجتليه مقتفينا

It shines forth from us and within us;

The one who follows us beholds it.

هكذا الشأن تنوّع

هكذا الشأن تنوّع

بالتجلّي في المرائي

بالتجلّي في المرائي

Thus the affair took varied forms

Through self-revelation in the mirrors.

وبدا الوجه المبرقع

وبدا الوجه المبرقع

وهو المرئي ورائي

وهو المرئي ورائي

And the veiled face appeared,

And it is both the seen and the seer.

فأرانا مظهر الحقّ

فأرانا مظهر الحقّ

في مرائي الجمع والفرق

في مرائي الجمع والفرق

Thus it showed us the manifestation of the Truth

In the mirrors of union and separation.

لم نر في البين بينا

لم نر في البين بينا

مذ رأينا العين عينا

مذ رأينا العين عينا

We saw no separation in the space between,

Since we beheld the Essence as the Essence itself.

سرّ توحيد الوجودِ

سرّ توحيد الوجودِ

مطلقٌ لا من قيودِ

مطلقٌ لا من قيودِ

The secret of the oneness of Being

Is absolute—not by release from bonds.

عين طوري في شهودي

عين طوري في شهودي

دكّ طوري حيث نودي

دكّ طوري حيث نودي

The very essence of my Mount, in my witnessing,

Leveled my Mount where the call was sounded.

وهو في التقييد مطلق

وهو في التقييد مطلق

قيَّد الحالَ وأطلق

قيَّد الحالَ وأطلق

And within limitation it is absolute;

It bound the state and set it free—

من سناً لاح بسينا

من سناً لاح بسينا

ما زجاً بالراء سينا

ما زجاً بالراء سينا

The one who shone as radiance at Sinai,

Mingling a sīn with rāʾ.

يا بروحي يا بروحي

يا بروحي يا بروحي

أفتدي يوحَ فُتوحي

أفتدي يوحَ فُتوحي

O, with my soul, O, with my soul,

I would ransom Yūḥ, sun of my illuminations,

من جلا كأسي صبوحي

من جلا كأسي صبوحي

في غبوقٍ وصبوح

في غبوقٍ وصبوح

Who made my cup of morning wine gleam

At evening drinking and morning drinking.

نصفَ الحان وأشرق

نصفَ الحان وأشرق

وبورد الكأس أشرق

وبورد الكأس أشرق

He served the tavern and shone,

And shone with the rose of the cup.

وسقى ماء معيناً

وسقى ماء معيناً

فشربنا وارتوينا

فشربنا وارتوينا

And gave flowing water to drink,

So we drank and quenched our thirst.

وطلا كأس المدام

وطلا كأس المدام

بشذا مسك الختام

بشذا مسك الختام

And anointed the cup of wine

With the fragrance of the sealing musk.

فاح طيباً في المشام

فاح طيباً في المشام

بصلاةٍ مع سلام

بصلاةٍ مع سلام

It wafted sweetly into the nostrils,

With a blessing and peace

لنبيٍّ جاء بالحقّ

لنبيٍّ جاء بالحقّ

نوره بالحقّ الحقّ

نوره بالحقّ الحقّ

For a prophet who came with the Truth—

His light, in truth, is the Truth—

آل بيتٍ طاهرينا

آل بيتٍ طاهرينا

وصحاب أكرمينا

وصحاب أكرمينا

The pure family of his House,

And the most noble Companions.
