بدر التجلّي الباهي الباهر

بالحسن ظاهرٌ وفي سما الأسرار سائر

بالحسن ظاهرٌ وفي سما الأسرار سائر

The splendid, dazzling full moon of manifestation.

The full moon of radiant beauty,

Manifest in beauty and journeying in the heaven of mysteries.

Resplendent in perfection, journeying through the heavens' mysteries,

وبالمحاسن باطنٌ ظاهر

وبالمحاسن باطنٌ ظاهر

وهو الأوّل وهو الآخر

وهو الأوّل وهو الآخر

And in beauties, hidden and manifest.

Outwardly manifest in grace, inwardly hidden in virtues,

And He is the First, and He is the Last.

The First and the Last,

وبالصفات سامي والمدعو بالأسامي

وبالصفات سامي والمدعو بالأسامي

نزّه وشبّه فهو المذهب

نزّه وشبّه فهو المذهب

And exalted in attributes, and called by the names.

Exalted in attributes, called by exalted names,

Affirm transcendence and likeness, for that is the doctrine.

Transcendent yet immanent, such is His way,

غص في بحور النور اللامع

غص في بحور النور اللامع

بالحبّ والع وأخرج درّ الإلهام النافع

بالحبّ والع وأخرج درّ الإلهام النافع

Dive into the seas of shining light,

Plunged in oceans of brilliant light,

Aflame with love, and draw forth the pearls of beneficial inspiration.

Through love and intimacy brought forth the pearl of inspiration's wisdom,

فهو اللدني قل ربّ زدني علماً لحجب القلب رافع

فهو اللدني قل ربّ زدني علماً لحجب القلب رافع

كي ينكشف لثامي

كي ينكشف لثامي

For it is divinely bestowed; say, 'My Lord, increase me in knowledge'—it lifts the heart's veils.

Eternal, say: My Lord, increase me in knowledge, raising the heart's veils,

So that my veil may be lifted

That my state and station be unveiled before me,

عن حالي ومقامي

عن حالي ومقامي

من لم يعرف هذا يحجب

من لم يعرف هذا يحجب

From my state and my station.

Who knows not this is veiled,

Whoever does not know this is veiled.

Love is my religion, no, my very prayer in theophany,

الحبّ ديني لا بل أصلّي عند التجلّي

الحبّ ديني لا بل أصلّي عند التجلّي

يهيم في من أهواه كلّي

يهيم في من أهواه كلّي

Love is my religion—no, rather, I pray at manifestation.

Enraptured with the one I love completely,

My whole being is enraptured by the one I love.

And died of love, thus I lived loftier,

ومت عشقاً فعشت أرقى

ومت عشقاً فعشت أرقى

سما مقام الفيض الإلى

سما مقام الفيض الإلى

And I died of passionate love, then lived to ascend

The heavens my station of effusing grace,

The heaven of the station of divine outpouring.

And in my being's annihilation and speech by inspiration,

وفي وجود انعدامي ونطقي بالإلهام

وفي وجود انعدامي ونطقي بالإلهام

وقد صفا لي هذا المشرب

وقد صفا لي هذا المشرب

And in existence is my nonexistence, and my speech is through inspiration.

This path was clarified for me,

And this source of drink has become pure for me.

The sun of existence rose from the horizon of Truth,

شمس الوجود من أفق الحقّ تشرق بالخلق

شمس الوجود من أفق الحقّ تشرق بالخلق

تمدّ ظلّ الكون في الشرق

تمدّ ظلّ الكون في الشرق

The sun of existence shines through creation from the horizon of the Truth.

Shining its light upon creation,

It stretches the shadow of the universe in the east.

More abundant in gathering and separation,

والنور أغدق في الجمع والفرق

والنور أغدق في الجمع والفرق

ومن سناها يرفرف البرق

ومن سناها يرفرف البرق

And the light is more abundant in union and separation.

And whom it touched fluttered like lightning,

And lightning flutters from its radiance.

Where the clouds wept and the meadow smiled,

حيث بكا الغمام والروض في ابتسام

حيث بكا الغمام والروض في ابتسام

وقد تجلّت فيه زينب

وقد تجلّت فيه زينب

Where the clouds wept and the garden was smiling.

Therein Zainab manifested,

And Zaynab has manifested herself within it.

O Lord, bestow blessings and peace upon the submitted one,

يا ربّ صلّ فضلاً وسلّم على المسلم

يا ربّ صلّ فضلاً وسلّم على المسلم

في حضرة القدس مكلّم

في حضرة القدس مكلّم

O Lord, graciously bless and grant peace to the one who submits,

In the sanctuary of holiness, the spoken-to,

Spoken to in the presence of holiness.

Drawn near, the Essence revealed, its sciences taught,

دنا تدلّى والذات تجلى علوم فيضها تعلم

دنا تدلّى والذات تجلى علوم فيضها تعلم

وآله في المقام

وآله في المقام

He drew near and descended; the Essence was unveiled, and he learned the sciences of its outpouring.

And his family in (this) station,

And upon his family in the station,

And his companions, the flags (of guidance),

وصحبه الأعلام

وصحبه الأعلام

ما لاح من هديهم كوكب

ما لاح من هديهم كوكب

And his illustrious companions,

What shined from their guidance was a star...

As long as a star shines forth from their guidance.
