قد كنت نوراً زانه الإشراقُ

O Mustafa, before Adam came into being,

O Mustafa, before Adam came into being,

you were a light whose adornment was radiance.

you were already a light adorned by radiance.

وفتحت ختم الفيض من كنز العما

وفتحت ختم الفيض من كنز العما

والكون لم تفتح له أغلاق

والكون لم تفتح له أغلاق

You opened the seal of divine effusion from the treasury of the Cloud,

And you opened the seal of the outpouring from the treasure of the Cloud,

while the cosmos had not yet had its locks opened.

while no locks had yet been opened for the cosmos.

أيروم مخلوقٌ ثناءك بعد ما

كنت الثناء وشأنك الإطلاق

Could any created being aspire to praise you, after

you were praise itself—and unboundedness is your state?

وظهرت من حمد الوجود بمظهرٍ

أثنى على أخلاقك الخلّاق

You appeared from the boundary of existence in a manifestation

And from the praise of existence you appeared in a manifestation;

through which the Creator praised your character.
