دع سوانا إن رمت يوماً رضانا

وتصبّر إن كنت ترجو لقانا

وتصبّر إن كنت ترجو لقانا

Leave all but us if one day you seek our favor.

Let go of whoever once rejected us

And be patient if you hope to meet us.

وافنَ عن غيرنا لتبقى لدينا

وافنَ عن غيرنا لتبقى لدينا

يا مُعَنّى وتستحقّ ندانا

يا مُعَنّى وتستحقّ ندانا

And die to all but us, that you may abide with us,

And turn away from others, so you remain ours

O tormented one, and merit our bounty.

O you who give meaning and deserve our praise

لا تكن غافلاً وإيّاك تصغي

لا تكن غافلاً وإيّاك تصغي

لعذولٍ أو تلتهي عن هوانا

لعذولٍ أو تلتهي عن هوانا

Do not be heedless, and beware of listening

Do not be heedless, beware, do not listen

To a reproacher, or being distracted from loving us.

To the unfaithful or be distracted from our love

ولدينا كن مثل مجنون ليلى

ولدينا كن مثل مجنون ليلى

وبمدح الصفات كن حسّانا

وبمدح الصفات كن حسّانا

And with us, be like Majnun of Layla,

And for us be like Layla's mad lover

And in praising the attributes, be a Hassan.

And in praising virtues be like Hassan

نحن قومٌ إذا أتانا محبٌّ

نحن قومٌ إذا أتانا محبٌّ

عاد من سكره بنا حيرانا

عاد من سكره بنا حيرانا

We are a people: when a lover comes to us,

We are a people, if a lover comes to us

He returns bewildered from his intoxication with us.

He returns from our intoxication confused

وإذا جاء فارغاً من سوانا

وإذا جاء فارغاً من سوانا

عاد من فيض سرّنا ملآنا

عاد من فيض سرّنا ملآنا

And when he comes empty of all but us,

And if he comes empty of our love

He returns filled by the outpouring of our secret.

He returns from the overflow of our secret filled

وعروس المنا بأبدع حسنٍ

وعروس المنا بأبدع حسنٍ

تنجلي في الدجى عليه عيانا

تنجلي في الدجى عليه عيانا

And the bride of hopes, in the most exquisite beauty,

The bride of meaning in the most beautiful form

Reveals herself to him in the darkness, before his very eyes.

Shines clearly in the darkness upon it
