بليل الوصال صبح الصفا لاح أبلجْ

وبدر الكمال قد لاح أبهى وأبهجْ

In the night of union, the dawn of purity shone radiant.

The dawn of harmony shone at nightfall

And the full moon of perfection has appeared, more splendid and more delightful.

And the full moon of perfection appeared radiant and delightful

ومجلى الجمال للصبّ في الحبّ هيجْ

ومجلى الجمال للصبّ في الحبّ هيجْ

وذات الحجال بالحسن لي تتبرّجْ

وذات الحجال بالحسن لي تتبرّجْ

And beauty's manifestation is a stirring of love for the yearning lover.

The assembly of beauty aroused passion in love

And the lady of the bridal chambers displays her beauty to me.

And the maiden's coyness made her charming to me

مهجتي هناك هاجت بحسن العرائس

مهجتي هناك هاجت بحسن العرائس

إذ بدت بذاك القدّ كالغصن مائس

إذ بدت بذاك القدّ كالغصن مائس

There my soul was stirred by the beauty of the brides.

My heart kindled there with the beauty of brides

When she appeared with that figure, swaying like a branch.

When she revealed herself, slender like a delicate branch

وتنادي هاك من حسني كلّ النفائس

وتنادي هاك من حسني كلّ النفائس

إن تبغ الوصال فاسلك من الحبّ منهجْ

إن تبغ الوصال فاسلك من الحبّ منهجْ

And she calls: Take every treasure from my beauty.

Calling me here, with all the finest charms in her beauty

If you seek union, then follow a path of love.

Should you seek union, then follow the path of love as your way

وامطي جواد في حلبة الوجد يجري

وامطي جواد في حلبة الوجد يجري

ورمح السهّاد في عسكر النوم يفري

ورمح السهّاد في عسكر النوم يفري

And mount a steed that races in the arena of ecstasy.

Mount the steed of rapture galloping in the racecourse of love

And the spear of the sleepless cleaves through the army of sleep.

And hurl the spear of bliss in the army of sleep

ذا هو الجهاد فالق الغرام بصدرِ

ذا هو الجهاد فالق الغرام بصدرِ

حيث للقتال جواد وَجْدكْ مسرجْ

حيث للقتال جواد وَجْدكْ مسرجْ

This is the struggle, so face passion with your breast.

This is the holy war - unleash the fetters of passion in your chest

Where the steed of your ecstasy is saddled for battle.

For battle you have a gallant steed and your fervor as saddle

صُلْ ولا تخف في الحبّ واثبت وجاهد

صُلْ ولا تخف في الحبّ واثبت وجاهد

وادّرع شغف حبّ الغواني النواهد

وادّرع شغف حبّ الغواني النواهد

Charge, and do not fear in love, and stand firm and strive.

Pray and have no fear of love - stand fast and struggle

And don the armor of passionate love for the full-breasted beauties.

Don the armor of passion for the charms of the lovely-eyed gazelles

تحظى بالتحف من حسن نور المشاهد

تحظى بالتحف من حسن نور المشاهد

واسبح في مجال بحر الهوى إن تموّجْ

واسبح في مجال بحر الهوى إن تموّجْ

You will be favored with precious gifts from the beauty of the light of visions.

You will attain the gifts of the beauty of the Radiant Witness

And swim in the expanse of love's sea, if it surges.

And swim in the expanse of the sea of love should it surge

كلّ صبٍّ عام في بحره عاد مخصوص

كلّ صبٍّ عام في بحره عاد مخصوص

بسيف الغرام جناحه بات مقصوص

بسيف الغرام جناحه بات مقصوص

Every yearning lover who swam in its sea returned specially favored.

Every passion-struck youth in his sea returns intent

By passion's sword, his wing lay clipped through the night.

His wing clipped by love's sword in utter defeat

في كتب الهيام عليه في الحبّ منصوص

في كتب الهيام عليه في الحبّ منصوص

ونال الآمال بمسك ختم تأرّجْ

ونال الآمال بمسك ختم تأرّجْ

In the books of love's frenzy, his love is expressly recorded.

In the scripts of love he is clearly destined

And he attained his hopes; the closing seal exhaled musk's fragrance.

And attains his hopes with the seal-ring of desire imprinted
