If the full moon faced a fraction of your radiance, it would take

the darkness of extinction as its sustenance in love.

Drunk with passion, if it appeared, it would be seen

bewildered, lovesick, dazzled by the light.

And if you walked upon the pebbles, they would be turned

by your hem’s fragrance into powdered musk, wafting its scent.

Like carnelian are my tears; their pearls have been turned

by the radiance of your cheeks into coral and rubies.
