ثنيت عنان المدح عجزاً مسلّماً

ثنيت عنان المدح عجزاً مسلّماً

ولم آلُ جهداً فيه بالنثر النظمِ

ولم آلُ جهداً فيه بالنثر النظمِ

I drew back the reins of praise, conceding my inability.

I turned away the reins of praise, surrendered,

And I spared no effort in it, in prose and verse.

Exerting no effort in prose or verse.

ولكنّ رسمي في حقيقة وسم ذا ال

ولكنّ رسمي في حقيقة وسم ذا ال

وليّ أتى ينبي عن الفيض بالوسم

وليّ أتى ينبي عن الفيض بالوسم

Yet my inscription, in truly marking this

Yet my practice, in truth, is to brand the one

saint, came to tell of the outpouring through the mark.

Whose grace has come to distinguish the brand.
