How could I fear changing circumstances,

when I surrender to my Lord in every state?

I seek no portion for myself, for I have become

free of reliance on my own strength and devices.

How could I be perplexed, now that I have come to choose

what the Lord of Majesty approves for me?

How many a grain of love for Him lies in the heart,

made to sprout by the manifestations of Beauty.

The hand of yearning reaped it, until

you threshed it in secret from my mind's very core.

    هِيَ حَسبي قوتاً وَقوتُ عيالي

    And it is stored in the house of my heart;

it is food enough for me, and food for my dependents.

O my friend, by the sanctity of love, tell me:

is this bounty not enough for the passage onward?

How could I fear that time might bring me poverty and want,

when my trust has rested so securely at this door?
